U.S. Security Associates Invites Clients and Communities to Join National Preparedness Month

ATLANTA, Sept. 26, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- This September marks the tenth anniversary of National Preparedness Month (NPM). Using the theme, "You Can Be the Hero," NPM encourages Americans to create a plan for natural disasters, active shooters, and other dangerous emergencies. Under its Ready campaign, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) sponsors NPM to inform the public of the types of emergencies that can arise and the tools and plans that will best help them to respond. U.S. Security Associates (USA) has joined the movement by registering with the National Preparedness Community, standing armed with emergency support, and publishing proactive readiness guidelines on the USA Facebook page. By helping clients and communities establish and maintain realistic emergency plans, USA stands with NPM officials in saying, "You Can Be the Hero."

By registering its support for NPM, USA joins the NPM community, where members participate in a national dialogue on readiness topics through online discussions, stay informed of readiness events taking place in their areas, and learn from one another's successes. FEMA provides resources and toolkits for families, communities and businesses at www.ready.gov.

According to FEMA, the five steps in developing a preparedness program are program management, planning, implementation, testing and exercises, and program improvement. USA supports clients at each step of this process, from performing risk assessments and providing threat assessments and emergency response personnel to developing tabletop scenarios and evaluating the need for improvement. Additionally, USA maintains a force of 150 specially-trained Emergency Response Team security officers who can be deployed within eight hours anywhere in the continental United States. The company also has 100 off-duty or retired police officers available for immediate deployment. A retired U.S. military police colonel leads major response deployments, and a standing corporate task force manages logistical support, state security officer licensing, communications equipment and other details. Using a combination of skills, expertise, and in-depth training, this team has helped many businesses and communities navigate and withstand emergency situations.

Through involvement with the NPM Preparedness Community, USA's experts can promulgate preparedness best practices outside the immediate circle of USA clients and benefit from the insights of other community members doing the same. With risk assessment, training sessions, and access to immediate response, client can prioritize preparation. President Obama also expresses the importance of planning, stating, "I encourage all Americans to recognize the importance of preparedness and work together to enhance our national security, resilience, and readiness."
