BadgeOS Version 1.2 Released and Extension Library Unveiled by Credly

Leading Digital Badge and Achievement System Grows With Nine New Extensions

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - October 01, 2013) -  Credly, LLC, released BadgeOS 1.2, the newest version of the free and open source digital badge and achievement system for WordPress. Nine extensions to BadgeOS were also released as part of a new Extension Library, which allow the badge earning experience to be customized to any context. Among the extensions are two that connect BadgeOS to leading open source learning management systems.

BadgeOS, which has been installed on over 5,000 websites, allows organizations to easily create learning pathways, recognize skills, and reward achievement by issuing digital badges, which an earner may share on social networks, blogs, websites and virtual resumes. Professional associations, state and federal agencies, educational institutions, online learning providers, and interest-driven communities have widely adopted the system for acknowledging achievement and issuing credentials. BadgeOS also powers compelling visitor engagement, motivation, and tracking programs for institutions like the Dallas Museum of Art and the YMCA of Greater New York.

"BadgeOS 1.2 includes updates inspired and suggested by the rapidly growing BadgeOS user and developer community," explained Jonathan Finkelstein, CEO of Credly and director of the BadgeOS Project. "A few weeks ago we announced a suite of developer tools and APIs and invited everyone to help expand and enhance the BadgeOS system to meet the needs and match the creativity of users the world over. The response has been overwhelming."

New BadgeOS Extensions include:

  • Activity Codes: Perfect for recognizing offline achievement, users earn open badges by entering a valid code anywhere on your site
  • Auto Messages: Trigger special messages as members cross achievement and activity thresholds, reinforcing progress and suggesting new pathways
  • Reports: Analytics and reports to review user progress and badge issuing statistics
  • LearnDash Add-on: Learners earn badges as they complete lessons, courses and quizzes using the LearnDash learning management system
  • Sensei Add-on: Automatically issue achievements and badges for virtually every learning activity in the Sensei system by WooThemes
