CFA Society Toronto has created a new set of journalist awards, based on the model set forward by CFA Society UK. This award recognizes the contributions of different Ontario and Canadian based publications and journalists towards the advancement of investor education, best practice and the promotion of ethics and high professional standards within the financial community. These endeavours are in exact alignment with CFA Society Toronto's mission and objectives of promoting the highest level of ethics and professionalism within the financial industry.

This award identifies and rewards publications and journalists whose work helps consumers and those serving consumers gain a better understanding of the investment profession.   Submissions by the selected finalists were graded by a judging committee using a strict selection of criteria that supported the awards objectives listed above.

Competing publications submitted three articles from the past 12 months that they felt best demonstrated their commitment to investor education, ethics and high professional standards.  All identifying traits of the publication and author were removed and submitted for evaluation by a volunteer judging committee.  After the initial grading the publication with the highest combined score for their three submissions was deemed the winner of publication of the year.

Finalists for the publication of the year are: Advisor's Edge, Investment Executive and MoneySense Magazine.

Journalists who penned the top three scoring articles were added to the shortlist as finalists for the Journalist of the Year Award and asked to submit three articles they felt best demonstrated their commitment to investor education, best practice, ethics and high professional standards.
