David Muntz, Former Principal Deputy Director of the Office of the National Coordinator on Health Information Technology (ONC), Joins GetWellNetwork

Key Technology and Policy Leader Moves to Foster IT Strategy for Patient Engagement


BETHESDA, MD--(Marketwired - Oct 7, 2013) - GetWellNetwork®, Inc., the leader in Interactive Patient Care™ (IPC) solutions, announced today that David Muntz, MBA, CHCIO, FCHIME, LCHIME, FHIMSS will join its executive team as chief information officer in late October. Muntz is the third prominent health care leader to join GetWellNetwork's executive team following the appointment of Dr. Karen Drenkard of the American Nursing Credentialing Center as its chief clinical/nursing officer and Dave Bennett, formerly of the Medical University of South Carolina and Krames StayWell, as its chief operating officer. 

In this new role, Muntz will work at the intersection of policy and technology at GetWellNetwork. He will advise health care organizations on defining and implementing a flexible patient engagement strategy that uses information technology to achieve optimal outcomes in a cost-effective manner for the benefit of all participants.

Appointed by the White House, Muntz served as the first Principal Deputy Director of the ONC since 2012. During his tenure he created the Office of Consumer e-Health and the Office of the Chief Medical Officer. Prior to serving in this highly influential role, Muntz was the Chief Information Officer at both Baylor Health Care System and Texas Health Resources. Early in his career he served a variety of roles from biostatistician to CEO at a cancer research institute and blood bank in Dallas, Texas. The facility included both an inpatient and ambulatory facility where as the CIO he led the efforts to create an early comprehensive electronic health record. He has been recognized numerous times as a foremost expert and one of the most influential leaders in the effective design and use of health information technology for premier quality health care across the care continuum.
