Middlesex Water Company Among New Jersey's Top Businesses to be Honored by NJBIZ


ISELIN, N.J., Oct. 14, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Middlesex Water Company (Nasdaq:MSEX) has been named a finalist in the 2013 NJBIZ Business of the Year awards program. The NJBIZ awards program celebrates New Jersey's most dynamic businesses and business leaders who share a commitment to professional excellence, business growth and the community.

Middlesex Water has been providing water service in central New Jersey for over 116 years. The company has ten operating units through which it provides water, wastewater and related utility services, contract operations and public private partnerships in New Jersey, Delaware and Pennsylvania. Over the past year, the Company announced an innovative renewable energy partnership with the Village of Ridgewood, NJ and was recently awarded a contract from the U.S. Department of Defense to own and operate the water system of Dover Air Force Base in DE through an affiliate.  CEO Dennis Doll was also recently named to lead the National Association of Water Companies, a national trade association representing the private water industry, as President of its Board of Directors.

Awards finalists were selected in six categories: Corporate Citizen of the Year, Emerging Business of the Year and Executive of the Year, as well as Business of the Year (1-50 Employees), (51-100 Employees), and (101+ Employees).   Middlesex Water, headquartered in Iselin, NJ, was selected as a finalist in the Business of the Year (101+ Employees) category.
