Almas Jiwani to Deliver Keynote Address at the 5th International Conference On Women And Development -Punjabi University, INDIA


PATIALA, INDIA--(Marketwired - Nov. 6, 2013) - Almas Jiwani, President of UN Women National Committee Canada will be deliver the keynote address via video conference at the 5th International Conference on Women and Development, in India. The conference will be held in Patiala from November 22nd-23rd.

The conference will aim to render the current situation for unequal participation that many developing countries face. Almas Jiwani, whose work has transcended on several of the issues of discussion through her commitment with UN Women National Committee Canada, will be speaking on the propositions for action in securing women's full participation in developing countries. Jiwani will embody the spirit to champion the right for women participation across the globe. Her commitment to the Millennium Development Goals will play a valuable part in the delegations that will ensue.

"It is not only women that require the right to be actively engaged and participating on all frontiers," Almas Jiwani says "The population needs it. Almas Jiwani will be joined by other UN Women representatives, and a special appearance by Ms. Lakshmi Puri, Deputy Executive Director of UN Women, among many global leaders in the discussion of women and development.

The 5th International Conference on Women and Development will be held at the Womens' Studies Center at Punjabi University, in Patiala, Punjab, India. Guests can expect discussion around the changing political climate and its implications in India, the role of literature, education, technology, media, environment, health, sports and law & judiciary, and women rights are human rights.
