Acquia Appoints Martyn Eley as General Manager of EMEA Operations

Company Expands Presence Throughout Europe, the Middle East, and Africa to Help Organisations Deliver Digital Experiences

READING, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwired - Nov 4, 2013) - Acquia, where great digital experiences begin, today announced that Martyn Eley has joined the team as general manager of Acquia operations in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) and Asia Pacific Japan (APJ).

Eley's appointment coincides with the dramatic growth Acquia is experiencing internationally, as organisations strive to match the speed of the web in delivering digital experiences encompassing content, community and commerce. The company has nearly doubled its EMEA-based employees in the past year, expanding to Germany, Sweden and Bahrain from its prior bases in the UK, France, Belgium and the Netherlands.

Acquia recently appointed Stephan Weiland as regional sales director for Germany, Austria, and Switzerland; Fredrik Blomqvist as regional sales manager for the Nordics, and; Ahmed Koshok as business development manager for the Middle East. The company recently opened its new EMEA headquarters in the UK's thriving tech hub of Reading, joining companies like Cisco, Microsoft, Adobe, and Symantec. The new Reading office houses Acquia's cloud operations, client advisors, and customer onboarding teams in addition to sales, marketing, and finance.

"I was drawn to Acquia because of its amazing company culture, which breeds a true passion to help organisations succeed in creating amazing digital experiences," Eley said. "I'm honoured to have the opportunity to join such an inspiring team, and I look forward to expanding Acquia's international position rapidly as we help our customers create compelling, branded digital experiences for content, community, and commerce."

Eley comes to Acquia with more than 25 years of IT experience. Most recently, he served as the head of sales for Centrix Software. Prior to Centrix Software, Eley worked in a variety of EMEA leadership roles at both startups and multinational companies, including webMethods, Progress Software, Vignette, and HP.
