Mainframe2 Reveals the Future of 3D Design Software Running in the Cloud at Autodesk University 2013

Momentum Builds for Disruptive Technology That Enables Any Software, Including CAD, to Be Run in a Browser From NVIDIA GRID-Powered Cloud

LAS VEGAS, NV--(Marketwired - Dec 3, 2013) - Mainframe2, an innovator in cloud computing, demonstrated how easily any CAD software can now serve users from the cloud at AU Las Vegas -- the premier conference for the international community of architects, engineers, and designers.

The cloud-based demo, running Autodesk Inventor from a standard web browser using NVIDIA GRID™ technology, was shown in the NVIDIA booth at the conference and online via a special one-day technology preview at www.mainframe2.com/live. The last public technology preview, held during the Amazon Web Services re:Invent conference last month, had users from 138 different countries run Adobe Photoshop in a browser in a single day.

In a Mainframe2 survey of thousands of interested customers, when asked which software vendor's tools they would want to run in a browser, Autodesk ranked in the top three. "We've seen the demand for cloud-based access to Autodesk tools from around the world, and together with NVIDIA we are excited to share our vision and momentum with the Autodesk user community here at AU Las Vegas," said Nikola Bozinovic, founder and CEO of Mainframe2.

The Mainframe2 solution runs on Amazon Web Services' G2 cloud instances, launched last month featuring NVIDIA GRID, the world's first graphics processing unit (GPU) technology designed for the cloud. The technology performs graphics processing of even the most 3D-intensive applications in virtualized cloud servers, and then captures and encodes a low-latency display as a video stream.

"NVIDIA GRID technology lets Mainframe2 deliver an instant and interactive design experience from any standard browser," said Jeff Brown, vice president and general manager of the Professional Visualization business at NVIDIA.

Mainframe2 is currently delivering its solution in a limited early access program and plans a broader roll-out of the service in Q1 of next year. Those interested in the solution can sign-up at www.mainframe2.com.
