National Association of Free and Charitable Clinics Receives Designation as Gold-Level GuideStar Exchange Participant

Elects 2014 Board of Directors

WASHINGTON, Dec. 19, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The National Association of Free and Charitable Clinics (NAFC) is excited to announce that the organization has been designated as a Gold-level GuideStar Exchange participant, due to the organization having demonstrated its commitment to transparency.

To view the information about the NAFC, simply go to www.guidestar.org, and search for the National Association of Free and Charitable Clinics in the search field found on the right side of the homepage. GuideStar is a 501(c)(3) public charity that collects, organizes, and presents the information in an easy-to-understand format while remaining neutral.  Their mission is to revolutionize philanthropy by providing information that advances transparency, enables users to make better decisions, and encourages charitable giving.

"The NAFC is proud to have this designation from GuideStar" says Nicole Lamoureux, NAFC Executive Director.  "The NAFC works hard to be transparent and to make our donors and supporters comfortable knowing where their donations are going."   The organization, like its member Free and Charitable Clinics throughout the nation, all rely on the generosity of their supporters.  Information on how people can get involved or send a donation to the NAFC can be found at www.nafcclinics.org.

Additionally, the NAFC has elected the 2014 Board of Directors.  The following individuals currently serve on the Board and will continue their service to the organization: Fred Bauermeister - Simi Valley, California; Jason Baisden - Winston-Salem, North Carolina; Suzie Foley - Greenville, South Carolina; Karen Gottlieb - Stamford, Connecticut; Johanna Henz - Painesville, Ohio; Saundra Turner - Augusta, Georgia; and Nann Worel - Park City, Utah.  There will be five new additions to the Board, beginning in January 2014.  These newly elected Board Members include:  Stephanie Garris - Orlando, Florida; Nancy Hudson - Charlotte, North Carolina; Shannon Watson - St. Charles, Illinois; Dr. Rani Whitfield - Baton Rouge, Louisiana; and Linda Wilkinson - Richmond, Virginia.

As with any nonprofit, having a well-rounded, diverse and involved Board of Directors helps the organization to not only maintain its good standing but to help shape future policies and activities of the organization.  The voluntary commitment and involvement of these individuals will be very important as the NAFC continues to serve its members and supporters in the upcoming year.
