AudioCodes Introduces Mediant 9000 High Capacity Session Border Controller

Offering Scalability and High Performance for Hosted Services and Large Enterprise Deployments, Also Available in Software and Virtualized SBC Editions

LOD, Israel, Jan. 14, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- AudioCodes (Nasdaq:AUDC), a leading provider of converged voice solutions that enable enterprises and service providers to transition to all-IP voice networks, today announced the release of the Mediant 9000 Session Border Controller (SBC). The high capacity Mediant 9000 extends the capacity of AudioCodes' Mediant SBC family, now supporting up to 16,000 concurrent sessions. The new SBC meets the connectivity, security and reliability needs of large-scale unified communications solutions and IP contact center deployments, as hosted, managed or owned services. AudioCodes' high scale SBC is also available as a software-only version for deployment on Common-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) platforms or within fully virtualized environments.

The growth of hosted services and datacenter centralization of enterprises increases the demand for session border controllers (SBC) with higher capacities and carrier grade high availability. With the cost-effective Mediant 9000, AudioCodes now offers a uniform SBC family that scales from mini-branches to large datacenters and cloud deployments, while sharing the identical feature set and offering central operation and monitoring. Redundancy and resiliency are supported on all Mediant SBC products, meeting mission critical business communication needs. This allows large organizations such as universities, hospitals, government institutions and other multi-branch and international enterprises to work with one vendor for all their SBC needs.

"The introduction of AudioCodes' latest SBC, with its significantly increased capacity, greatly enhances the company's market reach," commented Diane Myers, Principal Analyst, Infonetics Research. "While in the past AudioCodes' SBCs were successful in the mid-market with remote braches of large enterprises, this move definitely opens the door for the company to sell to datacenters of the largest companies. The fact that AudioCodes delivers a centrally managed and uniform SBC functionality across the portfolio from the smallest of branches to the largest of data centers represents a competitive value proposition in the market."

"We announced our plans to significantly increase the capacity of our SBC products earlier in 2013 and we are delighted to have accelerated our plans and exceed our initial targets," said Yehuda Herscovici, VP Products at AudioCodes. "We see the Mediant 9000 as an important building block in our comprehensive Microsoft Lync portfolio for large-scale deployments, both on-premises and cloud-based (private cloud and Office 365) and expect to achieve full Lync qualification during the first quarter of 2014."
