Worlds Inc. Receives 9th MMORPG Patent, Awaits Motion for Summary Judgment Ruling

BOSTON, MA--(Marketwired - Jan 30, 2014) - Worlds Inc. (OTCBB: WDDD) has received its 9th patent from the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO): no. 8,640,028 titled "System and Method for Enabling Users to Interact in a Virtual Space." The patent relates to computer architecture for three-dimensional graphical multi-user interactive virtual world systems also known as Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games (MMORPG).

"Our patented technologies are critical to enabling the MMORPG communities as we know them today," stated Thom Kidrin, Worlds' CEO. "We are actively pursuing protection of our intellectual property while we expand our patent portfolio for the technologies we have developed."

This patent is a continuation of US patents 6,219,045, 7,181,690, 7,493,558, 7,945,856, 8,082,501, 8,145,998, 8,161,385 and 8,407,592 bearing the same title.

Worlds is awaiting a ruling on the October 17, 2013 Motion for Summary Judgment (MSJ) hearing before Judge Denise Casper of the United District Court for the District of Massachusetts in relation to Activision Blizzard, Inc., Blizzard Entertainment, Inc. and Activision Publishing, Inc.'s (Activision et al) dispute of matters relating to Worlds' patent infringement lawsuit against Activision. Pending a favorable MSJ ruling, Worlds anticipates the court will thereafter set a new date for the Markman Hearing as the next stage of Worlds' patent infringement suit against Activision et al.

In March 2012, Worlds sued Activision in federal court for infringing patents that are based on Worlds' November 1995 provisional patent application. More information on the lawsuit and Worlds' patents can be found on the Worlds Inc. website at http://www.worlds.com.
