DAYTON, Ohio, Feb. 18, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- MacAulay-Brown, Inc. (HCI-DC) conference.
Participating on panel entitled, "What We Can Learn from Other Industries", Fuchs spoke to more than 1,000 participants at the conference and online via HCI-DC's live webcast. Moderated by Harry Greenspun, MD, Senior Advisor for Health Care Transformation and Technology, Deloitte Center for Health Solutions, the panelists focused on interoperability, but also delved into critical topics that included the importance of culture, planning, prioritization and strategy.
"It's not about technology, but about people and culture," Fuchs said during the event. "As leaders and managers, we have to understand that the more you are willing to share and empower others, the better your organization will be at all levels, including interoperability, growth, customer retention, etc."
In response to a question from the audience about what the healthcare industry can learn from the National Security community, Fuchs commented, "The customer drives governance, requirements and policy. Industry drives technology and innovation."
Citing an example, he went on to say, "After 9/11 it was important that the Intelligence Community improve data sharing for obvious reasons. As a result, the Government collaborated with industry to create many leading edge solutions to complex challenges that have faced our National Security community for decades. We now have many systems and methodologies in place that allow the customer to process and share tremendous amounts of intelligence data."
