Webmoney Launches Smartphone Barcode Service With Danal

SAN JOSE, CA and TOKYO, JAPAN--(Marketwired - Feb 20, 2014) - Danal, the global leader in mobile commerce, has announced a partnership with Webmoney, Japan's largest electronic money issuer. This partnership confirms Danal's leadership in the rapidly evolving mobile commerce space. Webmoney users will be able to generate a unique barcode with their smartphone to make purchases. The service will launch in Tokyo on March 21st at the Korean Drama & Film Festival as the official payment method.

Danal Japan has gained momentum in the past 2 years by connecting to Japan's largest mobile carriers and establishing strategic relationships with multiple global companies. Webmoney specifically selected Danal's technology based on Danal's proven wallet solution in Korea, Bartong, which has been hugely successful with brands like 7-11 and Bennigans.

Webmoney is a leading e-wallet in Japan, allowing users to load money onto their account through traditional deposit channels. Last year, Webmoney processed 1.4 billion dollars (140 billion JPY) in user transactions through its online wallet service. Expanding from online shopping into retail Point of Sale, Webmoney has selected Danal's technology to enable consumers to use their Webmoney account to purchase physical goods.

"Webmoney's decision to partner with Danal for their initiative to expand into the physical goods channel is an endorsement of our exceptional technology and team," said Jim Greenwell, President and CEO of Danal Inc. "Danal has an unmatched global footprint and capability to accommodate innovative and challenging mobile commerce scenarios."
