Invesco PowerShares Expands Smart Beta Suite With New International BuyBack Achievers ETF

CHICAGO, IL--(Marketwired - Feb 27, 2014) - Invesco PowerShares Capital Management LLC, a leading global provider of exchange-traded funds (ETFs), announced today the listing of the PowerShares International BuyBack Achievers™ Portfolio (IPKW) on the NASDAQ Stock Market, LLC. IPKW provides investors efficient access to a portfolio of international companies classified as International BuyBack Achievers™.

BuyBack Achievers are companies that have effected a net reduction of 5% or more of their outstanding shares in their most recent fiscal year, and have met additional criteria in accordance with the guidelines and mandated procedures of the NASDAQ OMX Group, Inc., the underlying index provider.

"The buyback methodology is generally more tax-efficient relative to dividend payments and may provide investors enhanced total shareholder return," said Lorraine Wang, Invesco PowerShares global head of ETF products and research. "The merits of the BuyBack Achievers methodology, and more broadly smart beta, are demonstrated in our US-focused flagship product PowerShares BuyBack Achievers (PKW), so we are excited to provide investors a way to participate in global opportunities as well."

PowerShares International BuyBack Achievers Portfolio (IPKW) is based on the NASDAQ International BuyBack Achievers™ Index. The Fund includes common stocks of foreign companies classified as International BuyBack Achievers in accordance with the NASDAQ OMX Group, Inc. proprietary selection methodology. The Fund will generally invest in all of the securities comprising the Underlying Index, and is rebalanced quarterly in January, April, July and October. The Fund has an expense ratio of 0.55%.

Important Risk Information

Beta is a measure of risk representing how a security is expected to respond to general market movements. Smart Beta represents an alternative and selection index based methodology that seeks to outperform a benchmark or reduce portfolio risk, or both. Smart beta funds may underperform cap-weighted benchmarks and increase portfolio risk.

There are risks involved with investing in ETFs, including possible loss of money. Shares are not actively managed and are subject to risks including those regarding short selling and margin maintenance requirements. Ordinary brokerage commissions apply. The Fund's return may not match the return of the Underlying Index.

IPKW
Common stocks may decline significantly in price over short or extended periods of time and may be more volatile than other types of investments.

Foreign securities have additional risks, including exchange-rate changes, decreased market liquidity, political instability and taxation by foreign governments.

Investment in securities in emerging market countries involves risks not associated with investments in securities in developed countries.

Investments focused in a particular industry are subject to greater risk, and are more greatly impacted by market volatility than more diversified investments.

Much of the income received by the Fund will be in foreign currencies. Because the Fund's net asset value (NAV) is determined in US dollars, the Fund's NAV could decline if the currency of the non-US markets in which the Fund invests depreciate against the US dollar.

A natural or other disaster could occur in a geographic region in which the Fund invests, which could adversely impact the Fund's investments in the affected region.

The Fund will invest in common stocks of foreign issuers, because foreign exchanges may be open on days when the Fund does not price its shares, the value of the non-US securities in the Fund's portfolio may change on days when you will not be able to purchase or sell your shares.

Investing in securities of small and medium-sized companies may involve greater risk than is customarily associated with investing in large companies.

The Fund is considered non-diversified and may be subject to greater risks than a diversified fund.

Shares are not individually redeemable and owners of the shares may acquire those Shares from the Funds and tender those shares for redemption to the Funds in Creation Unit aggregations only, typically consisting of 50,000 shares.
