Ring Trend to Dominate Spring Fashion

Jewelry Information Center declares rings the hottest accessory for spring

NEW YORK, N.Y., Feb. 27, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Jewelry Information Center (JIC), the consumer education arm of Jewelers of America, has declared rings to be the hottest accessory for spring. Necklace, earrings, bracelets and body jewelry all have their place for the season however; it will be rings that shine. With a wide variety of ring styles available, there is a ring trend for every budget, outfit and individual. Amanda Gizzi, trend tracker and spokesperson for Jewelry Information Center, shares the ring styles to seek this spring.

"Layering rings is a major jewelry trend," says Gizzi. "From big statement rings worn on multiple fingers to multiple skinny rings stacked high on one finger, there is no wrong way to layer."

Traditionally, statement rings are worn alone. However, this season, statement rings allow you to express yourself by showcasing big gemstone rings on multiple fingers of the same hand. JIC suggests that when wearing several bold rings together, the best looks play on a common color palette or theme.

On the other side of the layered ring jewelry trend are delicate, slim rings worn in multiples. To layer rings vertically, stack rings close together at the base of the finger. You can also play with a variety of textures, ring widths, colors and metals when layering to give added appeal. When stacking or layering rings, don't forget you can pile them on every finger – thumb and pinky included.

Another skinny ring that is contributing to the stackable ring jewelry trend is the midi ring, also termed "first knuckle" ring, which sits halfway down the finger between the first and second knuckles. Midi ring styles are wire thin bands, sometimes with small icons like sideways crosses, hearts and other tiny symbols. Midi rings look best when worn with other delicate rings or cuff rings at the base of the finger.

The first step to any jewelry purchase is to shop with a reputable jeweler. Members of Jewelers of America are committed to upholding the highest standards. Visit www.JIC.org to learn more about jewelry trends and to find a Jewelers of America member near you.
