Mountain View Cosmetic Dentist Introduces Breakthrough CEREC Scanning Tool for Faster and More Comfortable Restoration

Dr. Patrick F. McEvoy Adds New Omnicam Scanner to CEREC System to Provide Crown Restorations in a Single Day

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA--(Marketwired - May 21, 2014) - Dr. Patrick F. McEvoy, a leading Mountain View dentist, has introduced the CEREC Omnicam, a revolutionary scanning tool that renders 3D images of the teeth in stunning detail and enables Dr. McEvoy to treat and restore patients' teeth with just one visit, without needing to take impressions.

Constantly in search of ways to enrich his patients' experience, Dr. McEvoy is known for his commitment to continual education and early adoption of the state-of-the-art technologies to improve the way he and his team care for their patients. With the new Omnicam scanner, he can make and fit a crown in single session, a far more convenient and comfortable option for patients and their families.

"The new scanning technology and design software allows me to create a perfectly-fitting crown or inlay while the patient waits," explains Dr. McEvoy. "The CAD/CAM milling unit builds the actual restoration in a short space of time, and there is no need for uncomfortable wax impressions. I can make very precise restorations that fit perfectly, are very long-lasting, and look excellent."

The Omnicam scans the patient's jaws and renders realistic 3D virtual models in full color that enable detailed investigation of the oral cavity. By showing his patients recognizable images of their mouth projections, Dr. McEvoy can help patients achieve a clearer understanding of their condition and the recommended treatment options.

After the patient's approval of the proposed procedures, Dr. McEvoy designs the restoration through the CEREC 3D Computer Assisted Design software. This transfers the design to a ceramic block in a milling chamber that sculpts and shapes the crown, inlay or other restoration. The patient receives the restoration within the same day, eliminating the need for temporary crowns and repeated visits.

In addition to advanced CEREC procedures and general dentistry, Dr. McEvoy is a certified specialist in implant dentistry. His clinic also features computerized, pain free anesthesia, digital and 3D x-rays, and 3D virtual reality glasses for patients to watch movies during long procedures.
