Aryaka Accelerates Centrally Hosted Applications by up to 10x for Designer Textiles' Remote Employees in Vietnam

Designer Textiles Improves Application Performance for Remote Offices With Aryaka

MILPITAS, CA--(Marketwired - Jun 10, 2014) - Aryaka®, the leading 'As-a-Service' provider of WAN Optimization, Network, Application Delivery and Cloud Network, today announced that Designer Textiles, a leading producer of world-class active-wear, has deployed Aryaka's cloud-based WAN Optimization as-a-Service to have seamless RDP sessions and faster file transfers between its New Zealand and Vietnam offices.

Headquartered in New Zealand, Designer Textiles has employees in Vietnam who need to access files and applications hosted at their headquarters. Most of these are business-critical applications, such as ERP software, Citrix, RDP, web and mail. Unfortunately, the performance over IP VPN wasn't business-grade, with file transfers taking hours and RDP sessions being highly erratic depending on the time of the day the application was being run. To top it all, unstable latency was making the virtual distance between the two offices seem even farther.

Designer Textiles did not want to incur the huge costs associated with deploying MPLS links and WAN optimization hardware. Instead, they sought a service that they could simply switch on, with no upfront deployment costs and no management overhead. As they looked for alternatives to MPLS, they found Aryaka and quickly embraced Aryaka's appliance-less WAN optimization solution delivered via the cloud. Aryaka's solution mapped perfectly with their requirements, offering them deployment flexibility, stable core latency and an optimized network. The result was significantly enhanced application performance and a boost in employee productivity.

Designer Textiles' engagement with Aryaka started with a proof of concept (POC) -- a one week, no obligation free trial that Aryaka offers to anyone looking to test-drive its solution. The trial results left no doubt that Aryaka's solution was the one that best matched Designer Textiles' requirements. Once they deployed Aryaka, the bandwidth complications related to file transfers to and from their Vietnam and New Zealand offices vanished completely.

"We were trialing the transfer of our large Adobe Illustrator drawing files. 400MB in 9 minutes is pretty cool!" exclaimed Jonathan Bird, Information Technology and Process Manager at Designer Textiles. "The performance and reliability, especially for RDP and large file transfers, exceeded our expectations. File transfers which were taking hours before are now getting done in minutes. The variations due to time of the day and traffic patterns that we saw prior to Aryaka are now all a thing of the past. Aryaka's subscription based pricing model was the icing on the cake, which made the whole project a lot more financially feasible."

Aryaka's WAN Optimization as-a-Service solution packages a dedicated core network with built-in diversity and redundancy based on globally distributed Points of Presence (POPs) together with our cloud-based WAN Optimization technology. The combination of the extremely low packet loss across our core, having POPs close to end user locations, and our multi-segment architecture results in far fewer congestion problems in "the middle mile" than Internet VPN solutions offer, and notably better application performance when congestion occurs at the first or last mile compared with the purchased appliance-based approach. Aryaka also offers a unique customer portal, MyAryaka, to deliver network-wide visibility for WAN connectivity, as well as application performance and usage across the network, providing centralized end-to-end monitoring.

"When you hear feedback like 'Definitely finding a massive improvement with speed/connection', you know you've done something right," Bird added. "Thanks to Aryaka, centrally hosted applications accessed by staff at our remote site in Vietnam run 5-to-10 times faster. All applications now run as if hosted locally."
