Hitron Technologies Americas' DOCSIS 3.0 24x8 Wireless Application Gateway Achieves MoCA 2.0 Certification Leveraging Entropic's Leading MoCA 2.0 Technology

DENVER and SAN DIEGO, Sept. 10, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Hitron Technologies Americas, a global leader of residential and business DOCSIS networking devices, and Entropic (Nasdaq:ENTR), a world leader in semiconductor solutions for the connected home, today proudly announced Hitron's CGNM, the industry's first DOCSIS 3.0 24x8 Wireless Application Gateway, has achieved MoCA® 2.0 (Multimedia over Coax Alliance) certification. The Hitron CGNM leverages Entropic's advanced EN2710 MoCA 2.0 solution, which transforms the in-home coaxial infrastructure into a highly-efficient and reliable whole-home entertainment network.

The CGNM brings best-in-class home entertainment networking to all MSO subscribers by using 24 downstream channels by 8 upstream channels, Dual-Band 802.11n/802.11ac WiFi® and MoCA 2.0 home networking technology. By integrating MoCA 2.0 into the CGNM, Hitron is able to provide over 400 Mbps of application throughput over the in-home coax. By being MoCA 2.0 certified, the Hitron CGNM is the highest performing wireless application gateway available today; delivering more than twice the speed of other existing gateway solutions.

"We congratulate Hitron Technologies Americas on achieving MoCA 2.0 certification, a thorough and stringent certification process," said Matt Rhodes, senior vice president, Global Marketing, Entropic. "We are proud to provide our advanced MoCA 2.0 solution to successfully enable the CGNM to transform the existing coaxial infrastructure into a highly-efficient and reliable whole-home entertainment network, ready to meet the new video delivery demands required by converging broadcast-broadband networks."

"We are very excited to lead the market again with the launch of the first MoCA 2.0-certified wireless application gateway," said Todd Babic, chief sales and marketing officer at Hitron Technologies Americas. "Hitron is committed to ensuring broadband subscribers have the advanced solutions they require to enjoy bandwidth-intensive entertainment from streaming video/audio, playing online games, and transferring large files to making Voice over IP calls, surfing the Internet and connecting devices across both wired and wireless networks."

The Hitron CGNM was also recognized today by Broadband Technology Report as a Diamond Technology Reviews (DTR) product winner. Now in its ninth year, the DTRs are an influential broadband product review program in the industry. An impartial panel of leading high-level MSO and engineering professionals rate submitted products based on technical proficiency and impact on reliability, efficiency, capacity, speed, and quality of service.
