Toronto, Ontario, CANADA

TORONTO, Sept. 30, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Per Vices, a revolutionary hardware and solution provider, is pleased to announce the powerful stand-alone functionality built into Crimson, the company's latest Software Defined Radio.

Crimson is powered by an Altera Arria V SoC, which integrates Altera's 20nm FPGA fabric with a dedicated ARM processor system enabling unique and complex applications. "Per Vices' Crimson Arria V SoC-based SDR COTS board truly is a flexible product with a wide range of applications well suited for military, governmental and wireless networking applications," said Ian Land, senior manager of Altera's military, aerospace and government business unit. "It's a unique blend of hardware and software that delivers a high-performance, turnkey multi-channel radio," he continued.

Crimson's state-of-the-art FPGA processing provides the user with access to digital capabilities well beyond those of other devices. The user can access the processor, a dual-core ARM Cortex-A9 processor for independent processing and proprietary customizations. Crimson uses the high speed transceivers to connect two quad channel 16 bit digital-to-analog converters (DACs) and four dual analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) using JESD204B and utilizes the 350K logic elements for complex digital signal processing (DSP) functions, allowing the user to sit back and relax using elegant and easy to use web based user interface. Crimson can be used as a standalone full transceiver, receiver, transmitter, spectrum analyzer, recording device, etc., in a 19" 1U form factor.
