World Patent Marketing Promotes Thanksgiving Day Inventions

Matthew G. Whitaker, Former Iowa US Attorney and World Patent Marketing Advisory Board Member, discusses several Thanksgiving patents that might help to make your holiday preparations go a little smoother.

MIAMI BEACH, Fla., Nov. 26, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- via PRWEB - World Patent Marketing, the world's fastest growing Patent Assistance Organization (PAO), is continually looking to inventors and entrepreneurs to fill its patent portfolio with cutting edge ideas.

"This is a very special Thanksgiving for World Patent Marketing." said Bill Flanagan, Vice President of WorldPatentMarketing.com, "We have shown explosive growth in 2014 and we are very proud that we have been able to give back and support our community."

Most of these Thanksgiving patents have been around for a while, but don't be alarmed if things don't work out exactly as advertised:

PUMPKIN POWDER (1897)

WHAT: "This invention has the object to place the edible substance of the pumpkin, squash, or sweet-potato upon the market in the form of a powder or meal which combines readily with water or milk and which is ready for use as an ingredient in making pies without requiring to be first cooked."

WHY: "The common article of pumpkin flour which is now on the market is simply uncooked pumpkin dried and powdered and must be soaked a long time to restore the water which was expelled by drying, after which it must be cooked like green pumpkin before it can be used in making pies."

Pie Filling Device (1986)

WHAT: "This device pertains to a pumping apparatus for the filling of pie shells with a fluid filling within a hot oven."

WHY: "Today, a long handled paddle with a ladle on it is used to fill pie shells. It takes about 1 and ½ hours to fill a typical commercial Baxter 7 oven when such is filled with pumpkin pie shells. There is a need therefore for a device to hasten the loading or transfer of pie filling within pie shells in an oven."

Method for forming biscuits (1960)

WHAT: "This invention relates to a method of forming biscuits from a blanket of dough, and more particularly relates to such methods for forming biscuits which simulate in appearance rolls that are spirally wound."

WHY: "Bakery products, such as cinnamon rolls which are normally formed by spirally winding elongated strips of dough, have been difficult to produce commercially and in large quantities in the past, because of the intricate manner in which they are formed."

Roaster for chestnuts and the like (1929)

WHAT: "The invention relates to improvements in roasters especially adapted for use in roasting chestnuts and the like… another object of the invention is the provision of an apparatus of this character having improved means of discharge for the roasted material."

WHY: Roasting chestnuts (and the like) is generally an inefficient process.

Automatic mashed potato system (2007)

WHAT: "The present invention relates generally to automated food processors and more specifically it relates to an automatic mashed potato system for efficiently and automatically creating seasoned mashed potatoes."

WHY: "The conventional process of making mashed potatoes is very time consuming ... the conventional process of making mashed potatoes results in an inconsistent product because of the various time constraints an individual encounters while attempting to prepare an entire meal. A further problem… of producing mashed potatoes is that they do not provide a flavorful end product that can be enjoyed."
