Camp Corral Registration Now Open for 2015 Summer Camps

Camp Corral expands the number of camps it will offer to military kids

Raleigh, N.C., Jan. 12, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Camp Corral (www.campcorral.org), a free summer camp for military children, announced today that registration for its 2015 summer camps is now open. The nonprofit organization has expanded its reach since last summer, and will now offer summer camp sessions at 23 camps in 19 states. Although any child from a military family is eligible, registration priority is given to children of wounded, disabled or fallen military service members.

"Camp Corral has responded to the high demand, and we are excited to expand our programs to Arizona, Kentucky and Minnesota in 2015," said Betsey Fortlouis, executive director of Camp Corral. "Military kids face unique challenges, and it is a privilege to partner with best-in-class camps from across the country to offer this week-of-a-lifetime summer camp to our nation's young heroes. We look forward to another successful summer and another year of growth."

Camp Corral is a free, one-of-a-kind summer camp for children of wounded, disabled or fallen military service members. Headquartered in Raleigh, North Carolina, Camp Corral works closely with some of the best camps around the United States to host each session. Each host camp is accredited by the American Camp Association or operates under its standards, and has been carefully selected to provide campers with a caring, nurturing and safe environment - one in which each camper is valued. Additionally, a Military and Family Life Counselor (MFLC) is available on site at each camp.

At Camp Corral, military kids have the opportunity to build friendships with other kids who understand the unique challenges that come with military life. Host camps provide activities that are fun, new and challenging, such as archery, horseback riding and ropes course challenges, under the watchful eye of their highly trained staff. Thanks to the generosity of donors, Camp Corral is offered free of charge to military families.

The weeklong 2015 camps will run from May 31 through Aug. 15 in the following states: Oklahoma, Minnesota, Texas, South Carolina, Colorado, Kansas, Michigan, Ohio, New York, Indiana, Arizona, North Carolina, California, Florida, Illinois, Kentucky, Washington, Pennsylvania and Virginia.
