Father Martin's Ashley to Host Gala Event Honoring Michael K. Deaver and Donald W. Sigmund, Pillars of the D.C. Recovery Community

Two to Be Recognized Posthumously at Father Martin Legacy Campaign Event to Raise Funds for New Integrated Addiction Treatment Center Slated to Open in Fall 2015

HAVRE DE GRACE, MD--(Marketwired - Jan 29, 2015) - Father Martin's Ashley, a nationally recognized private, non-profit alcoholism and drug addiction treatment center, today announced that its Ashley Washington DC Leadership Council will host a gala event honoring the late Michael Deaver and the late Donald Sigmund. The event, which will raise funds for the Father Martin Legacy Campaign, will be held on Thursday, February 12 from 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. at the Four Seasons Hotel in Washington, D.C. (2800 Pennsylvania Avenue NW). At the event, Sigmund's family will be presented with the first Michael Deaver Service Award.

"We are so pleased to honor both Michael Deaver and Donald Sigmund, two remarkably accomplished men whose stalwart support of addiction treatment and recovery in the D.C. area is truly legendary," said Fr. Mark Hushen, O.S.F.S., president and CEO of Father Martin's Ashley. "The event will be the first of its kind and we look forward to continuing the annual tradition of naming a worthy recipient of this award. It is our hope that the proceeds from the event will help strengthen Father Martin's Ashley's ability to address the complex needs of today's patients by offering new and innovative programs for treatment and recovery."

Deaver, the White House deputy chief of staff under President Ronald Reagan, was a member of the Father Martin's Ashley board from 1995-2007. He passed away in 2007. Sigmund, a Washington insurance executive who since 2006 had been director of the Meltzer Group Insurance Services, passed away in late 2014. The event will include a private reception with the DC Leadership Council, Ashley executive staff and the Deaver and Sigmund families. The special event will also feature inspiring speakers, dinner, dancing and fellowship. Tickets and a variety of sponsorship opportunities are available.

All proceeds from the capital campaign event will benefit patient care at Ashley through the completion of Skip's Hall for Integrated Addiction Treatment on Ashley's campus. The new 44,000-square-foot building, projected to open in fall 2015, will provide dedicated space to deliver innovative programs and services to treat the evolving needs of addiction patients. The new structure will provide a larger platform for Ashley's treatment programs as well as a wellness and fitness center, admissions and nursing.
