Tesora to Deliver Oracle Database Connectivity in OpenStack Trove

Expands database options for enterprise private clouds

CAMBRIDGE, Mass., Feb. 18, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Enterprises can now provision Oracle Database in OpenStack via the latest version of the Tesora private cloud Database as a Service (DBaaS) platform, the company's enhanced implementation of OpenStack Trove.

Tesora has developed the first Trove guest agent for Oracle Database 12c. Enterprises can now use OpenStack Trove to create, configure, and start Oracle pluggable databases within a container database environment.  The Oracle container database can be pre-provisioned on dedicated hardware to deliver an ideal user experience and efficient use of resources.

The implementation includes a Trove guest agent for Oracle Database, which acts as a proxy between OpenStack and the Oracle server to administer databases. Tesora's Remote Agent Architecture simplifies agent communication with Oracle Database.

"Enterprises are looking for OpenStack Trove to help expand the options beyond open source and NoSQL databases already provided by the community," said Ken Rugg, CEO of Tesora. "The Oracle Multitenant option and OpenStack Trove are a good fit for organizations looking to deploy Oracle Databases efficiently in enterprise private clouds."

This addition builds on the extensive list of databases currently available for OpenStack Trove, which includes MySQL, MongoDB, Cassandra, Redis, CouchDB and PostgreSQL.

Tesora is part of the Oracle PartnerNetwork Specialized program.
