National MS Society, Arizona Chapter Names Karen LaPolice Cummins New Chapter President


PHOENIX, AZ--(Marketwired - Feb 26, 2015) -  The National MS Society, Arizona Chapter announced today its Board of Directors voted to name Karen LaPolice Cummins as the new chapter president. Cummins began as chapter president Wednesday, February 18, 2015.

Cummins takes on the top leadership position of the Arizona chapter, overseeing the budget, staff and day-to-day operations of the organization. The chapter encompasses all 15 counties in Arizona and delivers programs and services to the more than 8,000 people living with MS in the state. "I am honored to work with the board and our community to raising funds for cutting-edge research, drive change through advocacy and provide programs and services that empower people with MS and their families to move their lives forward," Cummins said. "I believe whole-heartedly in the NMSSAZ vision and I look forward to helping bring that vision to life."

Cummins began her career with the American Heart Association in 1995 as a Finance Director and was then promoted to Vice President of Planned Giving. In 2004 she was promoted to Executive Director, where she was responsible for the Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado and Hawaii markets. Most recently, Cummins co-owned a consulting practice, Go Big! Enterprise, where she consulted with a variety of nonprofit organizations assisting with feasibility studies, fundraising, strategic planning and board recruitment and development.
