SAN JOSE, Calif., March 3, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The board of directors of RotaCare Bay Area, a not for profit organization with twelve free medical clinics in the greater Bay Area, has elected Toritsesan Boyo, Denise Kent, Michael Lee and David Morgan to its board of directors.
"Each new member brings substantial experience in hospital management and care, as well as financial management to RotaCare Bay Area and are an excellent fit to help guide our organization in its next stages of growth," said John Thomas, president of RotaCare Bay Area.
Toritsesan Boyo, MPH, serves as the deputy director of Ambulatory Serves for the San Mateo Medical Center. In this position, he oversees the improvement of patient access, quality and safety initiatives, financial administration and business development for the Health System's Outpatient Centers in Daly City, Half Moon Bay, Redwood City, South San Francisco and the San Mateo main campus. Operations encompass 350+ providers and staff supporting 240,000 patient visits.
Denise Kent, R.N., is the director of Quality, Risk, and Patient Safety and serves as the corporate compliance officer for Seton Medical Center, Daly City. She is responsible for managing the quality, risk and patient safety programs including the coordination of the investigation, interface with insurance companies and attorneys; the patient safety program which includes monitoring of hospital and medical staff to insure compliance with the National Patient Safety Goals; and all quality assurance initiatives. Denise is also responsible for managing the corporate compliance program ensuring compliance with the standards of the program as outlined by the Office of Inspector General.
Michael Lee, CFA, CA, is a strategic planner of future initiatives in the PC Client Group for Intel Corporation. In his position, he is responsible for performing technical evaluations for future initiatives, including identifying future product opportunities and formulating new business models. He has also served as a strategic planner in Intel's technology IP, licensing and acquisitions group; internal audit; and treasury accounting.
David Morgan is the executive director of Ambulatory Services at the UCSF Medical Center in San Francisco. In his position he is responsible for 126 faculty practices, 24 medical center departments and services, Cancer Center, Orthopedic Institute, more than 1,500 physicians and 765,000 annual patient visits.
About RotaCare Bay Area
RotaCare Bay Area is a volunteer alliance of medical professionals, organizations and community members dedicated to providing free primary, quality healthcare services to uninsured families and individuals with limited ability to pay for medical care.
The organization was formed in 1989 when a local Rotarian and his club identified that many local residents had limited access to primary health care services. They resolved to meet the need, first with a clinic in Santa Clara. Since then, RotaCare Bay Area has grown to 12 clinics which are operated in Coastside (Half Moon Bay), Concord, Daly City, Gilroy, Monterey, Mountain View, Pittsburg, Richmond, San Jose, San Leandro, San Rafael, and Santa Cruz. In 2013, the Free Medical Clinics experienced over 27,500 patient visits. Since its founding RotaCare has recorded more than 230,000 patient visits. The organization receives no government funding or insurance reimbursement.
Even with the implementation of the Affordable Care Act, RotaCare Clinics are still very much in need. Millions of Californians remain uninsured and without an affordable option for Healthcare. RotaCare is poised and ready to be the safety net for those members of the community.
