FORMER NEWSMEN DAN RATHER AND TOM BROKAW DISCUSS THE STATE OF JOURNALISM AND SUSTAINABILITY AT UPCOMING ROAD SCHOLAR PROGRAMS

BOSTON, March 5, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Road Scholar, the not-for-profit leader in lifelong learning, is renowned for its knowledgeable experts and lecturers. In that tradition, former network newsmen Dan Rather and Tom Brokaw are scheduled to deliver presentations on the current state of journalism and sustainable living at upcoming learning adventures in Canada and New York.

Dan Rather, the former anchor for the CBS Evening News, is a featured speaker for Quebec, the Canadian Maritimes & Maine: A Voyage Featuring Dan Rather, scheduled for May 2015. By small ship, participants will explore the maritime history of Nova Scotia and the history and European-style charm of Montreal and Quebec City. Mr. Rather will present two engaging lectures, "Fact vs. Fiction in Journalism: Misinformation & the Internet" and "An Evening with Dan Rather," as well as engage in onboard activities with participants.

In August 2015, the former NBC Nightly News Anchor Tom Brokaw will lead Road Scholars on an exploration of the movement to build livable communities. In particular, participants will learn about the growing body of research that enables us to live healthier, more fulfilling lives in more beautiful and sustainable neighborhoods and cities. The Great American Get-Together Chautauqua: Creating Livable Communities will be held in New York at the Chautauqua Institute.

"The caliber of every Road Scholar instructor is exceptional and we are particularly excited that Dan Rather and Tom Brokaw, two of the most well known journalists of our time, will be speaking on such timely topics as the state of journalism and sustainable communities" said James Moses, President and CEO of Road Scholar. "Both talks are timely and relevant."
