Women's Choice Award Recognizes America's Best Breast Centers

FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla., March 10, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- According to the American Cancer Society, breast cancer is the second most common form of cancer among women. One in eight women will develop breast cancer during her lifetime. The Women's Choice Award (WCA) proudly announces the 2015 America's Best Breast Centers, acknowledging the centers' dedication to exceptional patient care and treatment. Fewer than 350 centers met the WCA standards in 2015, resulting in an elite group of centers devoted to women's breast health.

"Every two minutes a woman is diagnosed, and she needs the knowledge and confidence to select the very best centers that employ advanced technology and clinical practices to give her peace of mind, as she embarks on this emotional journey," says Delia Passi, CEO & Founder of the Women's Choice Award.

Centers earning the award meet rigorous standards and measures of excellence from the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC) from the American College of Surgeons and the American College of Radiologists, Breast Imaging Center of Excellence (BICOE). Together, more than 28 criteria are required to earn accreditation by both organizations, and WCA proudly represents their standards among their awardees.

"The Women's Choice Award is an important designation addressing breast care from a woman's perspective. I support their mission to empower women and recommend others recognize the value of being an award recipient," says Cary S. Kaufman MD, FACS, 2014 Chairman of the NAPBC.

Access to this information empowers women and their families to make the best healthcare choices, resulting in a level of trust that improves their healthcare decisions for treatment. The 2015 awardees represent an elite network of centers that carry the Women's Choice Award, signifying their commitment to empower women in their community to make smart healthcare choices.
