OneNeck IT Solutions Selected by City of Minneapolis as New IT Partner

With the initial 5-year contract, OneNeck will become the city's managed network, data center and managed security service provider.

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn., March 12, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- via PRWEB - The City of Minneapolis has officially signed a five-year contract with their new IT partner -- OneNeck® IT Solutions. OneNeck, a leading provider of hybrid IT solutions, will now be responsible for the City's managed network, data center, and managed security services. OneNeck will also manage the City's compute and storage on ReliaCloud®, the company's enterprise-class cloud solution.

"We're thrilled with the City's selection of OneNeck IT Solutions as their new managed network, data center and managed security service provider," said Terry Swanson, senior vice president at OneNeck in Eden Prairie, Minn. "We look forward to becoming a true partner with the City."

According to Swanson, OneNeck has 65 employees based in the metro area and more than 600 employees nationwide. OneNeck IT Solutions was purposefully assembled through acquisitions completed by Telephone and Data Systems, Inc. (TDS®), a Fortune 1000™ company headquartered in Chicago with $5 billion of annual revenue and more than 10,000 employees.

The first acquisition was Minneapolis-based VISI Incorporated. Founded in 1994 and purchased by TDS in 2010, VISI is a vital part of the foundation OneNeck is built on, helping the company grow to $259 million of revenue in 2014. With the company's strong roots in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area and tremendous resources, OneNeck has the capability of delivering a wide-range of data center solutions including colocation, managed services, hosted services and cloud computing.

According to the City, the selection of OneNeck will save Minneapolis about $3 million annually while also increasing job opportunities with the City.

"A team of certified OneNeck professionals will manage the infrastructure that the City's mission and business critical applications run on," Swanson stated. "We look forward to a smooth transition and to delivering the City with the most reliable IT services they've ever experienced."

In 2014, the City of Minneapolis put out an RFP for outsourcing services. As part of OneNeck's response, the company proposed, and now will:

  • Host the City's applications and data requirement in ReliaCloud® at the company's Tier III data center in Eden Prairie with disaster recovery extended to a second OneNeck data center.
  • Manage additional infrastructure at the City Hall data center and all of the network routers and switches at the City's 70 locations. A team of OneNeck application management experts will be managing the databases for the City's entire Oracle and Microsoft SQL needs.

"We're excited for what the future brings with OneNeck IT Solutions," said Otto Doll, chief information officer for the City." Their ability to meet our objective for fast, flexible provisioning of services is only one of the reasons why the City selected them."

OneNeck IT Solutions offers a full suite of hybrid IT solutions including cloud and hosting; ReliaCloud® enterprise cloud services; managed services; ERP application management; professional services; and IT hardware. The company operates over 200,000 square feet of data center space with Tier 3 data centers in Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Arizona and Oregon, and will soon be opening a newly constructed facility in Colorado.
