Netsurion Taps Former Symantec SMB Sales Exec Mark Bartig

Will Lead Expansion Driven by Increased Data Breach Risk

HOUSTON, March 25, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Netsurion, a leading provider of cloud-managed IT security services, today announced the appointment of Mark Bartig as senior vice president of sales. Previously, Bartig spent 10 years with Symantec, where he was responsible for leading all aspects of the SMB and mid-market business units in North America.

The addition of Bartig to the Netsurion team is a key step in the company's growth initiative to address the rapidly expanding SMB market opportunity driven by increased breach awareness. With more than 80 percent of breach attacks targeting small businesses, any branch office, franchise or sole proprietor can use Netsurion to protect against cyberthreats.

Bartig joins Netsurion in the midst of a series of growth-oriented moves. In November 2014, Providence Equity Partners became the company's majority shareholder, and the Netsurion (then VendorSafe) Board of Directors named Kevin Watson as CEO. In December 2014, Jay Conn was appointed COO, and in February 2015, the company rebranded to reflect its new expansion goals into related branch office/remote office-oriented markets such as hospitality, healthcare, legal and insurance.

"Mark brings to Netsurion an incredible amount of talent, experience and strategic perspective as well as a proven track record in driving impressive sale and revenue growth for leading technology companies," said Watson. "We're excited to welcome him as we accelerate our entry into new markets, where his expertise will, no doubt, be instrumental."

Bartig comes to his new role with significant experience leading national and global sales organizations in data security, backup, cloud hosting and data center outsourcing. At Symantec from 2001-2011, he served as a member of the strategic leadership council, an internal strategy think tank. His most recent role at the firm was director of sales, U.S. Commercial, SMB and SMB SLED. During his tenure, he was responsible for driving more than $400 million in annual revenue through both direct sales and indirect channel partnerships. In 2011, he joined a global hosting company, Connectria Hosting, as vice president, where he led worldwide sales and revenue growth.

"Joining Netsurion was compelling because this type of security is essential right now for SMBs, driven by higher data breach risks and growing awareness and concern for the security of data," said Bartig. "Netsurion's cloud-managed firewalls are easy to implement and cost effective, enabling SMBs to achieve enterprise class security. I'm eager to be a part of the team and promote substantial sales growth as the company continues its expansion."
