Chicago's Lakeshore Recycling Systems Helps Change a Life on March 27 Airing of the Steve Harvey Show

Recycling and Waste Diversion Leader Helps an 18-Year-Old Appreciate the Value of Hard Work as a Way to Build a Brighter Future

CHICAGO, IL--(Marketwired - Mar 27, 2015) - Lakeshore Recycling Systems (LRS), Chicago's leading independent recycling and waste diversion services provider, today announced it will be featured in a touching segment to air today, Friday, March 27, on the nationally-syndicated Steve Harvey Show. The segment will feature the story of Elijah, an 18-year-old from Queens New York whose mother fears he is making the wrong decisions and does not appreciate the value of hard work in helping shape a better future for himself.

In the Chicago viewing area, the Steve Harvey Show airs weekdays from 2 p.m. - 3 p.m. on WMAQ-TV Channel 5, and repeats from 3 a.m. to 4 a.m. nightly.

In the segment, Elijah joins an LRS driver on an early morning garbage pick-up route, and separates cardboard from the general waste stream on the LRS sorting line at its Materials Recovery Facility at 31st and California. In-studio, Elijah comes to terms with his mother's concerns thanks to Steve Harvey's guidance and mentorship, and surprises her with a gift that make this an inspiring, must-watch event.

"We are grateful to the Steve Harvey Crew for turning to LRS for such an important and meaningful demonstration of how hard work and perseverance can result in life-changing outcomes," said LRS Managing Partner Joshua Connell. "Lakeshore employs more than 400 dedicated Chicagoans who each day provide for their families, and exemplify what hard work is all about."
