HAMPTON, VA., March 31, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Patient Advocate Foundation (PAF) is pleased to announce the receipt of funding to support the addition of a new transportation-focused program within their Financial Aid Fund division. The new program is designed to help patients diagnosed with metastatic lung cancer and metastatic melanoma with transportation expenses.
"For patients diagnosed with a serious illness, like metastatic melanoma or lung cancer, frequent ongoing treatment means reliable transportation to and from care can be difficult to find," Dr. Alan Balch, CEO of Patient Advocate Foundation says. "With the addition of this Transportation Financial Aid Fund, we hope to reduce some of our patients' transportation barriers."
The Transportation Financial Aid Fund joins the array of support programs offered as part of PAF's Financial Aid Fund division providing targeted relief to specific designated patient populations. The program will open May 1st and begin accepting applications immediately.
Financially qualified metastatic lung cancer and metastatic melanoma patients in active treatment will receive a one-time grant of $300 to be used specifically for transportation purposes as it applies to the patient's treatment. To be eligible, patients must also be undergoing reoccurring IV-infused treatment and have incomes below 250% of the federal poverty guideline.
