GTT signs a cooperation agreement aiming at the industrialization of its Mark V technology
Paris - 10 April 2015. GTT, the world leader in the design of membrane containment systems for the maritime transportation and storage of LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) announces the signature of a cooperation agreement with the South Korean shipbuilder Samsung Heavy Industries in order to industrialize its new Mark V technology. This agreement includes the building by the shipbuilder of a mock up dedicated to final developments and related tests. Another cooperation agreement is being finalized with Hyundai Heavy Industries. These two partnerships will allow the commercialization of the Mark V technology during 2015.
After some few years of research and development, the Mark V technology is an optimized version of the Mark III system and its sister Mark III Flex. As of December 31st 2014, 146 Liquefied Natural Gas Carriers (LNGCs) were equipped with these two systems. The Mark V technology received Approvals in Principal (AIPs) from major classification societies.
As with the Mark III and Mark III Flex, the Mark V technology is composed of a double insulation with reinforced polyurethane foam. The new system also includes an innovative iron-nickel alloy corrugated secondary membrane and offers significant improvement of the warranted daily boil off rate.

GTT conclut un accord de coopération en vue de l'industrialisation de sa technologie Mark V
Paris - 10 avril 2015. GTT (Gaztransport & Technigaz), leader mondial de la conception de systèmes de confinement à membranes pour le transport maritime et le stockage du GNL (Gaz Naturel Liquéfié) annonce avoir conclu, avec le chantier naval sud-coréen Samsung Heavy Industries, un accord de coopération en vue de l'industrialisation de la nouvelle technologie Mark V. Cet accord prévoit la construction, par le chantier naval, d'une maquette pour les derniers travaux de développement et tests associés. Un autre accord de coopération est en cours de finalisation avec Hyundai Heavy Industries. Ces deux partenariats permettront une commercialisation de cette technologie au cours de 2015.
Issue de plusieurs années de recherche et développement, la technologie Mark V est une version optimisée du système Mark III et de son évolution Mark III Flex qui, au 31 décembre 2014, équipaient 146 méthaniers. Elle a déjà reçu des approbations de principe des principales sociétés de classification.
Comme Mark III et Mark III Flex, la technologie Mark V comprend une double isolation en mousse polyuréthane renforcée. Le système apporte l'innovation d'une membrane secondaire corruguée en alliage fer-nickel et offre une amélioration significative de la performance thermique (Boil-Off Rate).
