Over 1,200 Volunteers Registered for Massive Free Clinic Event at Close of National Volunteer Week

National Association of Free & Charitable Clinics Thanks Volunteers from Across the Nation

KANSAS CITY, Mo., April 14, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- This weekend, in celebration of National Volunteer Week, The National Association of Free & Charitable Clinics (NAFC) is holding a massive one-day free health clinic event in Kansas City, Missouri. NAFC thanks volunteers from across the country for their important work in helping to provide care to the medically underserved, and is encouraging others to give back and make a difference in their community by volunteering.

The clinic, which will be held in the Bartle Hall Kansas City Convention Center on Saturday, April 18th – the last day of National Volunteer Week – will feature over 1,200 registered volunteers who will help provide medical care to the area's medically-underserved. The C.A.R.E. Clinic event – which stands for Communities Are Responding Everyday, is an important way to showcase the spirit of volunteerism, the great work of Free & Charitable Clinics and the continued need for access to health care.

This clinic event, which is made possible by amazing volunteer support, will provide members of the community with basic medical services (including medical exams, diabetes tests, cholesterol tests, EKGs, pregnancy tests, HIV testing, kidney disease testing and more), dental care (extractions only), health education and connection to follow up care and on-site insurance navigators. Patients are encouraged to call 1-800-340-1301 today to schedule an appointment.

The 1,200+ Free and Charitable Clinics in the U.S. rely on volunteers to provide much needed health care services in their communities. These volunteers range from medical providers and nurses, to students and members of the public looking to give back by helping with events and so much more.

"There are so many volunteer opportunities in both medical and non-medical capacities at clinics across the nation," said Nicole Lamoureux, CEO of the NAFC. "The NAFC is encouraging anyone interested in giving back to contact their local area clinic to discover what volunteer opportunities are available and needed."

The NAFC website – www.nafcclinics.org – has a "Find a Clinic" tool where you can search for a clinic in your area and find the contact information. For more information on the upcoming Kansas City One-Day Free Clinic Event please visit www.NAFC2015KCCARE.com.
