Cheapflights.ca Unveils European Airport Affordability Rankings

Compares Average Airfares to 25 Most-Searched European Airports

TORONTO, ON--(Marketwired - Apr 30, 2015) - For the past four years, the travel experts at Cheapflights.ca, champions of simple travel search, have published their Airport Affordability Index ranking the most popular Canadian and U.S. border airports. And, now that the summer travel season is approaching, the team has turned its attention to European airport affordability from Canadian departure points. Digging deep into its database of airfare searches, Cheapflights.ca has ranked the 25 Most Popular European Airports Ranked on Affordability for Canadian Travellers. In a time when overseas travel dollars need to go as far as possible, this ranking can be a valuable guide to where to look for deals.

As with all of our Airport Affordability Index reports, our rankings are a snapshot of prices. In this report, we've calculated the average airfares based on the prices our users found when searching for flights leaving from major cities across Canada in the first three months of 2015. The good news is that our findings show that some classic European destinations are among the most affordable. The top five includes Paris, Dublin and London. And, interestingly, prices can vary quite a bit between close-by European locations, such as Frankfurt and Munich or Rome and Venice.

"Europe is a popular summer travel destination for Canadians, and a weak dollar doesn't mean a weak interest in crossing the pond; bear in mind that the Euro is also suffering on the foreign exchange markets!" said Brittany Dietz, Cheapflights.ca travel expert and site editor. "Cheapflights.ca's European airport index is a reminder that, while much of Europe shares a common currency, the cost for visiting is not one size fits all. Our mantra is always do your homework and be as flexible as possible. There may be a great European adventure waiting for you as your reward."

Below are the 25 most-searched European airports ranked by the average round-trip airfares (including taxes) that our users found from popular Canadian cities:
