CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwired - April 30, 2015) - New this year on the Calgary Stampede's midway food list will be a decadent PB&J Kabob - a deep fried PB&J sandwich spaced between deep fried Reese Peanut Butter Cups. The Kabob is one of several unique peanut butter themed offerings from The Peanut Butter Cupboard, owned by Calgarians Kyle and Emily Corner. In their first year of business, Emily and Kyle are dedicated to bringing peanut butter to food lovers everywhere - starting with Stampede and extending to other summer festivals.
"The Calgary Stampede is all about finding food diversity on our world-class midway," says James Radke, Stampede's Midway Operations Manager. "The Peanut Butter Cupboard is a new, fun and unique edition this year."
Emily and Kyle found the gently used Canadian Beef Bacon wagon for sale on Kijiji and have been converting it into The Peanut Butter Cupboard since January this year. In addition to the PP&J Kabob, their menu includes The Capital PBJ, PB Power Balls (both also featured on the new foods list), Fried Peanut Butter Banana Sandwiches and Deep Fried Reese Peanut Butter Cups.
Emily Corner is local entrepreneur W. Brett Wilson's "Wrangler" and credits him for planting seeds of entrepreneurship. After watching so many start-ups from Brett's office, she and Kyle were inspired to start their own. Emily has had her very own jar of peanut butter from the time she was three years old. "It was mine because I'd use my fingers as my spoon," she admits. On her wedding day her vows promised Kyle: "A lifetime of fun, gratitude, forgiveness and many many jars of peanut butter." For his part, Kyle called Emily the peanut butter in his cereal. He admits it sounds weird, but everyone should try it!
Through The Peanut Butter Cupboard, Kyle and Emily are ready to spread their deep love of PB while asking everyone they encounter: "Are you crunchy… or smooth?"
