Gartner Names Security First Corp. "Cool Vendor in Security Infrastructure Protection"

Leading Research Firm Recognizes Company's Software-Defined Data Protection Technology as Cutting-Edge Solution for Infrastructure Protection

RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA, CA--(Marketwired - May 4, 2015) - Security First Corp., the industry leader in software-defined data security technology, announced today that it was named a "Cool Vendor" in Gartner's 2015 "Cool Vendors in Security Infrastructure Protection" report published last week. Gartner, the world's leading information technology research and advisory company, publishes its report each year identifying "Cool Vendors" that provide services which offer unique expertise, a technology focus, or deliver strategy to bring businesses value through innovative approaches. Security First Corp. (SFC) was recognized for its approach to data protection through its SPxSHARC™ solution. SPx™ technology makes data invulnerable to brute force attacks and is only recoverable by authorized recipients upon request, all while providing high availability of the data to users.

"To be included in the 'Cool Vendors in Security Infrastructure Protection' 2015 report confirms our unique approach to securing data is a viable and necessary answer for enterprises seeking to defend themselves against today's cyber threats," said Mark O'Hare, President and Chief Executive officer of Security First Corp. "Our technology protects information at the bit level, delivering data privacy, integrity and high availability."

As organizations continue to dedicate increased resources to security and risk management, there is still an increase in the frequency and sophistication of cyber attacks costing corporations time, money, and their reputation. According to the Gartner report, CISOs, CIOs and security architects should consider SFC's SPxSHARC technology when looking for groundbreaking solutions to protect data. The report mentions that SFC's technology is a form of "software-defined data protection," and that "the solution protects the confidentiality, integrity and availability of the data as configured by policy, independent of the physical location of the storage being used."

SFC's SPxSHARC solution encrypts and then randomly splits data into pieces called shares, and then transmits and stores the shares across multiple locations in any storage environment -- whether local, remote or cloud (public, private or hybrid).

The Gartner report also mentions that "Security First's technology offers protection for confidentiality, integrity and availability of data. The technology is licensed by IBM as a software pattern for PureApplication and as its IBM Cloud Data Encryption Services (ICDES). It is also licensed to Unisys for the data protection capability of its Stealth offering. Additionally, SFC's technology is licensed by Cyber Reliant to secure solutions for data within handhelds, phones, tablets, laptops, desktops and POS devices."
