NaviNet Announces Launch of First Value-Based Network Application

NaviNet Open Advanced Referrals Empowers Real-Time Payer-Provider Collaboration in Pursuit of Performance-Based Program Initiatives

BOSTON, MA--(Marketwired - May 5, 2015) -  NaviNet, Inc., America's leading healthcare collaboration network, announced the launch of its first Value-Based Network (VBN) application -- NaviNet Open Advanced Referrals. These VBN applications are an extension of the NaviNet Open payer-provider collaboration platform. Health plans increasingly are focused on guiding clinician offices toward the optimal cost and quality provider referral sites. Patients are often faced with high deductibles and complex subnetwork challenges -- and want guidance to make the right specialist decision. NaviNet Open Advanced Referrals empowers provider offices to submit and access referrals in real time, choosing the best specialist at the most affordable cost, meeting the needs of the patient, the provider, and the health plan.

NaviNet Open Advanced Referrals, developed in tandem with its Design and Collaboration partner and part owner Independence Blue Cross (Independence), gives physicians the right information at the right time for better-informed decision-making around cost and quality. This application allows health plans to configure their networks and display their preferred providers on NaviNet Open. As a result, administrative staffs now have user-friendly automated decision support tools that are located within the same referral workflows that they already use, thereby helping them to identify and select the optimal site of service for a particular patient's health plan.

"Improving quality and managing costs are the goals of all of us in healthcare, and tools like NaviNet Open Advanced Referrals make it easier for primary care doctors to recommend specialists to patients based on the cost and quality of the services they provide, which can be a challenging aspect of a physician's work," said Daniel J. Hilferty, president and chief executive officer of Independence Blue Cross.

Tandigm Health, a physician-led joint venture between Independence and DaVita HealthCare Partners, will be among the first to use NaviNet Open Advanced Referrals.

"We are honored to have collaborated with our customer-partner Independence Blue Cross to deliver this groundbreaking Value-Based Network application, NaviNet Open Advanced Referrals, to the healthcare community," said Frank Ingari, president and chief executive officer of NaviNet, Inc. "We take very seriously our mission to lead the transformation of healthcare through delivering superb payer-provider collaboration products and applications, improve healthcare continuum workflow efficiencies, and increase patient satisfaction through empowering providers to better advise them on the choices they make."
