Photo Release -- Hotel RL Baltimore One Step Closer to Aug. 1 Opening

Online Reservation System Engine Launches for First Hotel RL Opening in Baltimore

SPOKANE, Wash., May 5, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- RLHC (Red Lion Hotels Corporation) (NYSE:RLH) announced today the company’s first Hotel RL, located in Baltimore Inner Harbor and scheduled to open Aug. 1, is now available for online reservations and the call center. Hotel RL is a full-service, lifestyle brand inspired by the spirit of the Pacific Northwest and designed for consumers with a millennial mindset.

“Our excitement for this first-ever Hotel RL is palpable," says Angela Landgraf, Senior Vice President of Corporate Development for RLHC.  “We can hardly wait to share it with the world. The authentic, straightforward approach we are taking with the brand, combined with its upscale design concept, will be highlighted within this adaptive reuse architectural jewel of Baltimore's Keyser building."

The design for the hotel is centered on making the lobby a place where guests want to congregate for events, to work on their computer, or to share a cup of coffee or alcoholic beverage using a new seating concept called The Steps.  Offering a Pacific Northwest coffee house setting, latte style brews will be available daily in the Hotel RL lobbies, and entertainment and TED-style talks from local experts will be a common occurrence.  The guest rooms are designed with comfortable soft seating and hard work surfaces throughout, with wood floors and large flat-screen TVs. Rather than traditional closets, the rooms will have a retail-inspired changing area with a gear drop.

“Our Hotel RLs will be among the most technologically advanced in the hospitality industry,” says RLHC President & CEO Greg Mount. “We will offer an airplane-style check-in experience granting our guests an opportunity to choose their specific room.  Using their smartphones, these same guests can bypass the front desk if they choose.  If for some reason a guest needs a guest room keycard, a kiosk in the lobby will be available for generating them with their mobile device.”

Located in downtown Baltimore, the Hotel RL Baltimore Inner Harbor, 207 East Redwood Street, is known locally as The Keyser Building, a 10-story historic property with a cut-stone façade.  Hotel RL Baltimore is within walking distance of Camden Yards and M&T Bank Stadium and is two blocks from the famous Inner Harbor, which has water taxis that ferry passengers to Fells Point, Canton and Fort McHenry. With the renovation nearly complete, the signature design elements of Hotel RL are incorporated into the property and its 2,400 square feet of meeting space, an exercise room and a business center.

When it opens to the public, this location will become the first Hotel RL to open since the upscale lifestyle brand was introduced by RLHC in fall 2014.  In December, RLHC purchased a 70 percent completed adaptive reuse project.  Additionally, three Red Lion Hotels in Olympia, Salt Lake City and Spokane are also undergoing renovations to convert to Hotel RL and are scheduled to open under the new conversion brand during the first quarter of 2016.
