UVa Wins Inaugural Commonwealth Clash Over Virginia Tech

Virginia529 Awards Trophy With Two Competitions Remaining


CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA--(Marketwired - May 08, 2015) - The University of Virginia (UVa) sealed its victory in the inaugural Commonwealth Clash when it placed higher than rival Virginia Tech at the ACC Men's Golf Championships April 24-26. Sponsored by Virginia529 College Savings Plan (Virginia529), the Commonwealth Clash is a points-based competition between the athletic teams at the University of Virginia and Virginia Tech.

With two competitions remaining, UVa has scored 13 points in the Clash competition compared to Virginia Tech's 7. The two teams will face off May 14-16 for the final time this academic year at the ACC Men's and Women's Outdoor Track Championships in Tallahassee.

Virginia529 awarded the trophy to UVa April 29 at UVa's annual awards banquet. UVa Athletic Director Craig Littlepage accepted the trophy.
