Four Military "Mom" Bloggers Generate 7.2 Million Impressions for Tourism Assets

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C., May 15, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Fayetteville Area Convention & Visitors Bureau (FACVB) hosted four regional military "mom" bloggers for a familiarization tour of greater Fayetteville April 24-25. The bloggers were active on social media throughout the visit – they tweeted, sent messages on Instagram, they "vlogged" and shared Facebook messages that cumulatively garnered 7.2 million impressions for Fayetteville and Cumberland County. To date, eight blog posts have been written, and more are planned. The hashtag for the tour was #FayTour15

With the support of its partners, the FACVB created a two-day tour of the community based on the bloggers' interests that included:

  • An overnight stay and tour of Fairfield Inn North
  • Lunch at Sherfe restaurant
  • Walking historic tour of downtown Fayetteville
  • A climbing lesson at The Climbing Place
  • A VIP visit to the Fayetteville Dogwood Festival for the Friday night concert
  • Tour of the Airborne & Special Operations Museum with a  sneak peek of the new simulator experience
  • Tour of the EA Poe House at the Museum of the Cape Fear Historical Complex
  • Lunch at Luigis restaurant
  • A ZipQuest tour

One blogger that lives in the region  commented: "I've lived here eight years and had no idea there was so much here."

"Hosting journalists to explore the community is one way the Bureau increases the visibility of Cumberland County and its amenities," says John Meroski, FACVB president and CEO.  "Through this tour, we've created active online advocates for Cumberland County."
