INTERVIEW OPPORTUNITY: Dr. Weed Comes to Washington

Dr. Aseem Sappal of Oaksterdam University Will Teach Washingtonians How to Work in the Legal Cannabis Industry

WASHINGTON, DC, June 28, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- With passage of Initiative 71, Washington, DC, is officially the Capital of Cannabis, and Dr. Aseem Sappal, a medical doctor, Provost and Dean of Faculty of the nation's first cannabis college – Oaksterdam University – is ready to "school" Washingtonians on the legal ways of weed and the emerging cannabis industry.

Oaksterdam University's two-day Cannabis Career Training will take place at the Capital Hilton at 1001 16th Street NW in Washington, DC, this weekend, June 27 and 28. The training will provide students – doctors, advocates, CPA's and even grandmothers – with the critical information they need to pursue a cannabis career. Topics will include: Federal vs. State Law, Politics & History of Cannabis, Horticulture, Science of Cannabis, and Economics & Opportunities in the Industry. The Washington, DC, certification program is a good testing ground for Oaksterdam as it eyes Washington, DC, as a potential headquarters for its planned East Coast campus.

"The District is not just the nation's capital, it is now the capital of cannabis. We're excited to bring business acumen and world-class cannabis education and certification to Washingtonians and our east coast students. The local cannabis economy could become $130 million annually," said Dr. Sappal.

The two-day event is sponsored by Oaksterdam University and local cannabis entrepreneur Ben-David Sheppard and his portfolio of cannabis companies, MD Canna-Care & Cultivation, House of Jane and Jane's Brew Gourmet Coffees teas and other fine edibles.

To register for the two-day training onsite, please go to the Capital Hilton, 1001 16th Street, NW, Washington, DC. Registration opens at 8:30 a.m.
