LOS ANGELES, July 15, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- NorthStar Moving® Company, the leading eco-luxury mover in California, announced today that their third annual "Let's Send Hunger Packing" summer food drive competition in partnership with Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage raised 6,771 pounds of food to feed hungry children in Los Angeles and Orange Counties.
One out of four children in LA County and one out of five children in Orange County struggle with hunger. The food drive competition, hosted by NorthStar Moving, had Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage offices in LA County and Orange County compete for six weeks to collect the most food donations to help feed those children in need.
"NorthStar Moving has been a committed Food Bank partner since 2013, collecting and donating more than 12,800 pounds of food," said Los Angeles Regional Food Bank Chief Development Officer Amy Smith. "We are grateful for their continued support."
NorthStar Moving has tallied the collected food for each office and is very pleased to announce the 2015 winners. The second annual "Food Donation Heroes" that collected the most food in their county are: San Marino for Los Angeles County and winning for a second consecutive year, Mission Viejo for Orange County. NorthStar Moving delivered all of the food donated in Los Angeles County to the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank and all of the food donated in Orange County to Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County. NorthStar Moving will honor the winning offices each with a $1000.00 donation to their local food bank in their name.

"Currently, we support 320 community partners in Orange County, including soup kitchens, church pantries, and after school programs for children. NorthStar Moving also awarded Veronica Cardenas and Kay Leavens of the San Marino Coldwell Banker office; Laura Marie of the Sunset Strip Coldwell Banker office; Joella Merten of the Arcadia Coldwell Banker office; and Lori Mikesell and Flora Fatanat of the Mission Viejo Coldwell Banker office with the "Super Volunteer" award for their dedication, enthusiasm and tireless work to collect donations to feed hungry kids. In addition, Murad Spa was honored as a "Food Donation Hero" for joining the efforts and collecting food donations at their Inclusive Health Spa and at their Corporate Headquarters in El Segundo, California.
