Lifestyle Retailer Applauds Boulder-White Clouds Wilderness Passage by U.S. Senate

SEATTLE, Aug. 5, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- "The Campion Advocacy Fund applauds passage of The Sawtooth National Recreation Area and Jerry Peak Wilderness Additions Act in the Boulder-White Clouds in central Idaho. The Wilderness Act was intended to protect America's most special and pristine wildlands. There's no doubt that the Boulder-White Clouds fits that description," said Tom Campion, co-founder of Zumiez, which sells action-sports apparel and equipment to 12- to 24-year-olds in 44 states in the U.S. and multiple provinces in Canada.

"We are so proud of the Idaho Conservation League and their courage and willingness over many years to sit down with neighbors from across the political spectrum in Idaho and work with the Idaho Congressional delegation to conserve this special place."

"The Boulder-White Clouds is one of the largest undeveloped landscapes in the continental United States. It is the headwaters of four major rivers and nowhere in America do salmon return as high into the mountains to spawn. The Boulder-White Clouds are home to a spectacular array of wildlife, including bighorn sheep and wolverines, and offer healthy outdoor recreation opportunities for everyone: activities from hiking, bird-watching, wildlife viewing, hunting and fishing, to mountain biking, skiing and rafting. Because of these extraordinary ecological and recreational values, conservationists have advocated protecting the Boulder-White Clouds for more than 40 years. The designation of 275,000 acres of Wilderness in the Boulder-White Clouds makes it the largest new Wilderness Area to be designated since 2009."

Tom Campion is a Trustee of the Campion Advocacy Fund.
