Cartelligent Releases List of Vehicles with Largest Popularity Gains in 2015

Professional Car Buying Experts Share Cars with Highest Increase in Sales Over 2014

SAN FRANCISCO, CALIF., Aug. 25, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Cartelligent has released its list of the vehicles with the greatest increase in sales in 2015. The company is unique in that it works directly with individual clients and help them to weigh their options and decide exactly which car is best for them.

While many models see a fairly consistent demand from Cartelligent's clients year over year, others can demonstrate a fairly sharp gain in popularity over the course of a year. This can be due to a redesign, an increase in availability, a new innovation or safety feature, or the press and recognition of a prestigious award.

Cartelligent helps thousands of clients each year decide on the right vehicle for their own lifestyle. This list compares the company's year-to-date 2015 numbers to 2014 sales to see which vehicles have experienced the greatest increase in popularity so far this year.

10. Subaru Outback (up 58% over 2014 sales)

Redesigned for 2015, the capable Outback offers ample cargo space, a comfortable ride and sporty handling. Kelly Blue Book named Subaru the brand with both the lowest cost to own and the highest resale value for 2015.

9. Toyota Sienna (up 64% over 2014 sales)

The ever-popular Sienna had a minor refresh for 2015 adding redesigned taillights and an upgraded interior. The Sienna seats up to eight in comfort and is the only minivan to offer all-wheel drive as an option. The third row folds down easily to create additional cargo space when needed.

8. Volkswagen GTI (up 68% over 2014 sales)

The Golf GTI (with the Golf) was named North American Car of the Year (2015), Motor Trend's 2015 Car of the Year, and an IIHS Top Safety Pick (applies only to four-door models). It's no wonder that it's seen a corresponding surge in interest. The sporty GTI is perfect for those who want the fun of a performance car without the high price tag.

7. Mazda Mazda3 (up 86% over 2014 sales)

Named a Car and Driver "10Best" for both 2014 and 2015, the Mazda3 combines fuel efficiency with safety features like blind-spot monitoring (making it an IIHS Top Safety Pick+) and tech that includes a multimedia touchscreen. It's clear why the Mazda3 is an increasingly popular choice with Cartelligent clients.

6. Subaru Forester (up 88% over 2014 sales)

The Forester is an IIHS Top Safety Pick + (when equipped with optional front crash prevention). It boasts fuel economy of 32 mpg highway/24 mpg city and comes standard with symmetrical all-wheel drive. Subaru's top-rated EyeSight driver assist is an available option and a rear-vision camera comes standard.

5. Subaru Impreza (up 97% over 2014 sales)

The Impreza is an IIHS Top Safety Pick and the top-rated small sedan by Consumer Reports. It combines a smooth ride and handling with fantastic fuel economy and standard AWD.

4. Audi A3 (up 101% over 2014 sales)

Redesigned in 2014, the Audi A3 combines the agile handling and distinctive styling of the brand with a lower starting price point. The A3 was named World Car of the Year in 2014 and is an IIHS Top Safety Pick+ when equipped with optional front crash prevention.

3. Porsche Macan (up 112% over 2014 sales)

Released in 2014, Porsche's smaller SUV was immediately in high demand among Cartelligent consumers who loved its compact size, powerful engine, and sporty drive. Inventory has improved in 2015 which largely accounts for the increase in sales we've seen so far this year.

2. Volkswagen Golf (up 135% over 2014 sales)

With the Golf GTI, the Volkswagen Golf was named North American Car of the Year (2015), Motor Trend's 2015 Car of the Year, and an IIHS Top Safety Pick. The Golf is available as a 2-door or 4-door, as well as a clean diesel.

1. BMW i3 (up 151% over 2014 sales)

Released in 2014, the i3 comes in both an electric version that offers a range of up to 110 miles and a range extender version that includes a gas engine to get drivers to their destination if it's beyond the electric range. An increase in availability in 2015 has encouraged its high increase in sales this year.
