TopLine Federal Credit Union to Participate in Statewide Day of Kindness

MAPLE GROVE, MN--(Marketwired - October 06, 2015) - TopLine Federal Credit Union will be one of the 14 credit unions across the state of Minnesota participating in an orchestrated day to spread kindness in communities and encourage others to do the same on Columbus Day, Monday, Oct. 12.

In this inaugural collaborative credit union event, referred to as "Plus It Forward," twenty-five TopLine employees will be volunteering over a 100 hours benefiting the Community Emergency Assistance Programs (CEAP) and Keystone Community Services. Volunteers will be making a positive impact in the communities that TopLine serves by working in a food shelf -- helping clients shop, stock shelves and sort food, and assisting seniors with yard clean-up.

Around the state, nearly 1,000 credit union employees will dedicate more than 6,200 total volunteer hours to scatter kindness in their communities. Participating credit unions estimate that the collective reach the through efforts on this day will impact more than 18,000 people.

The statewide day of kindness was inspired by Plus It Forward Day, an event created by Affinity Plus Federal Credit Union in 2013. This is anticipated to be the first of many collaborative community outreach days conducted by Minnesota credit unions, which are local, trusted not-for-profit financial cooperatives.

CEAP (Community Emergency Assistance Program), serving Hennepin and Anoka Counties, is a community-based, non-profit agency that partners with other resources to assist people in need. The mission of CEAP is to stabilize individuals and families in financial distress and to maximize their ability to live independently and with dignity. Keystone Community Services, named for the strong connecting stone at the center of an arch, is a community-based volunteer organization in St. Paul, Minnesota that helps thousands of low-income individuals and families in the East Metro Area.
