MetaMetrics Partners With Zoobean to Provide Lexile Measures for Beanstack Service

Children's Book Service to Feature Popular Text Complexity Metric

DURHAM, NC--(Marketwired - October 13, 2015) - MetaMetrics®, developer of the widely adopted Lexile® Framework for Reading, is pleased to announce its partnership with Zoobean, a company that provides innovative tools to help libraries engage local families and build children's literacy. Zoobean will provide Lexile® measures for titles featured within their popular library service, Beanstack. Beanstack is a customized service designed to engage families with young readers -- they offer a Readers' Advisory service focused on children's books and a Summer Reading service that facilitates participation from children, teens, and adults.

"Finding the right books is key to sparking a lifelong interest in reading in young children," stated Malbert Smith, Ph.D., President and cofounder of MetaMetrics. "The addition of Lexile measures to Beanstack helps ensure that children are reading books that they comprehend and that suit their unique interests."

Beanstack will provide Lexile measures for thousands of books and offer a Lexile search feature. Beanstack connects readers with their local libraries catalog by offering recommendations and learning tips for young readers from ages 0-12, based on user interests, age and reading level.

"We started Zoobean to help kids find books that excite and appeal to them, and to make reading more fun," says Felix Brandon Lloyd, who co-founded the company with his wife Jordan Lloyd Bookey and serves as Chief Dad and President. "The addition of Lexile measures allows us to further our mission by helping families find books at the right level of challenge for their young readers."

Lexile measures place readers and texts on a common scale, matching students with appropriately challenging reading materials. Recognized as the standard for individually matching readers with texts, tens of millions of students worldwide receive Lexile measures to help them choose targeted readings from more than 100 million articles, books and websites that have been measured.
