Army National Guard receiving medical, dental support from Cherokee Nation Healthcare Services

CNB division awarded more than $24 million in contracts

TULSA, OKLA., Oct. 20, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Army National Guard soldiers in 13 states are receiving assistance from Cherokee Nation Healthcare Services to help ensure soldiers are physically fit for deployment.

The Cherokee Nation Businesses division was awarded contracts spanning one to five years, totaling more than $24 million, to provide medical and dental case management services to the Army National Guard.

CNHS's case management personnel work with doctors on bases providing clinical tracking and oversight of all aspects of soldier medical, dental and behavioral health challenges. CNHS employees compile medical information and help with the referral process when needed.

In addition to managing soldier care, the company also provides insightful health statistics to commanders and to the Army surgeon general in each state under contract.

"The good health of Army National Guard soldiers is vital for them to be prepared for any mission," said Steven Bilby, president of Cherokee Nation's diversified businesses. "Our Cherokee Nation Healthcare Services staff looks forward to providing these important services to the Army National Guard to ensure they are in the best shape possible when they're called into action."

The Army National Guard is currently receiving assistance from CNHS in the following 13 states: Alabama, California, Florida, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, New Hampshire, Nevada, Oregon, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota and Wyoming.

CNHS staff includes clinical social workers, registered nurses and medical administrative clerks. The staff uses U.S. Government Information Systems, called MEDCHART (Medical Electronic Data Care History and Readiness Tracking) and MEDPROS (Medical Protection System), to upload soldiers' health information and readiness statistics.

Since 2009, the company has been serving government clients with medical supplies and a wide range of services, including financial recovery, patient appointing, recruiting, credentialing and placement of clinical, administrative and housekeeping personnel for numerous federal agencies and commercial clients. Wholly owned by the Cherokee Nation, CNHS is part of the Cherokee Nation Businesses family of companies.
