Novetta Announces Winner of the 2015 10^27 Innovation Challenge

MCLEAN, Va., Oct. 27, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Novetta, a leader in advanced analytics, today announced and honored the winner of the 2015 1027 Innovation Challenge at The International Spy Museum in Washington, DC. Congratulations to Laura Drummer, Deputy Director of Analysis for "SocialBee: An Enhanced Social Network Analysis Tool Suite" on this significant achievement.

Novetta's 1027 Innovation Challenge provides a platform for employees to submit actionable proposals that solve diverse and complex customer challenges and innovate forward to stay ahead of the competition. The winner receives real research and development dollars in order to turn their idea into a reality, ultimately leaving a lasting legacy for the company at large. 2015 marks the third year that Novetta has hosted the 1027  Innovation Challenge and Award ceremony. In 2014, Shawn Masters' "Rich Media Indexing" proposal took the prize; and in 2013, Andrew Wilson won with "Combining Entity Extraction and Concept Detection for Enhanced Linking and Search Capabilities."

"The 1027  Innovation Challenge is a manifestation of everything Novetta stands for," said Peter LaMontagne, CEO of Novetta. "No matter the level of scale or technical complexity of the idea, we want any Novetta employee to submit proposals they believe will be most impactful. We are dedicated to innovation that supports the mission of our customers. I am excited for this year's winner, Laura Drummer, whose idea is both practical and founded in technical innovation."

"The winner of the 2015 1027  Innovation Challenge earns R &D funding and the full support of the company in order to see the proposal to fruition. This award is the culmination of a lot of effort," said Shawn Masters, Senior Technical Director and 2015 challenge judge. "It was a tough selection process, but we know that our selection will ultimately have a great impact on our overall performance and capabilities for our customers."

The winner was selected from the five finalists who presented their ideas to a panel of judges. This year's finalists included:
