This memorable event will be a celebration of the art community and the energy it brings to Norfolk. Attendees will experience stunning works of art and enjoy entertainment by DJ Tmobyle. Additionally, there will be passed hors d’oeuvres from Omar’s Carriage House and a cash bar, in which proceeds will go to the flourishing NEON District.

As part of the Grand Opening Celebration, Glass Wheel Studio will unveil their first exhibition, PROVENANCE. On view Nov. 14, 2015 – Jan. 17, 2016, PROVENANCE will feature works by glass artist Jon Goldberg, mixed-media artist Natalie Abrams, and a 71-piece neon installation by Liz Berk. The term provenance refers to the ownership history of a work of art, a resume of every hand it touched since its creation. This opening exhibition is a celebration of Glass Wheel Studio’s awaiting provenance. Its budding history of displaying innovative art and nurturing inspiring artists.

“This is just the beginning,” said Cheryl White, director of Glass Wheel Studio. “PROVENANCE is the first of many exhibitions that will undoubtedly cultivate an appreciation for contemporary art in glass and beyond.”

At the event, art enthusiasts will also have the chance to meet artists from the inaugural Studio Artist Program. Awarded to 13 visual artists annually, this group includes: Ali Feeney, Charlotte Potter, Evelyn Robertson, Maggie Bush, Jennifer Sleeper, Caitlin Blomstrom, Neal Robinson, Mercedes Ortiz, Heidi Peelen, Amanda Page Stephens, Hannah Kirkpatrick, Gayle Forman and Sarah Vaughn. “The Studio Artist program is an opportunity for these artists to ground and deepen their practice.  It also promotes the importance of the creative class here in Norfolk,” added White.
