Larkin Street Youth Services Launches Vital $10 Million Phase of Growth Campaign

Drive's Focus Is to Raise Education, Health, and Infrastructure Funds for Homeless Youth

SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 18, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Larkin Street Youth Services, an internationally recognized nonprofit leader in providing effective housing, education, employment, and health services to at-risk, homeless, and runaway youth, recently launched the public phase of its $10 million Larkin Street Growth Campaign. This stage of the campaign, which is expected to be complete by 2017, will focus on three key areas:

  • Education and employment: The goal is to raise $4.5 million to grow Larkin Street's education and employment programs.
  • Health and well-being: The goal is to raise $2.6 million to expand Larkin Street's case management, behavioral health services, and advocacy initiatives.
  • Improving infrastructure: The goal is to raise $3.1 million to invest further in Larkin Street's technology, staff infrastructure, and facilities.

"Being homeless doesn't stop just because the holidays are near. While the Bay Area is booming, not everyone is benefitting. There are over 1,500 homeless youth in San Francisco who don't have a place to sleep each night," said Larkin Street's Executive Director Sherilyn Adams.

The private funding phase of the $10 million Larkin Street Growth Campaign (http://larkinstreetyouth.org/growth/) has already realized $6 million and is part of a larger, five-year fundraising push.

"The Larkin Street Growth Campaign is an opportunity to ramp up our fundraising efforts to an even greater scale," Adams said. "Now, more than ever, homeless youth in San Francisco need access to basic necessities such as a safe place to live, health services, education, and work. This is the time for the broader community to step forward and help this much-ignored population."
